Introduction

The Development Zone campus of DUT was officially opened in August 2004. Located at the south foot of The Dahei Mountain, the beautiful scenic spot in the Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone, the campus covers an area of 780,000 square meters, including 150,000 square meters construction buildings. Along with the enchanted landscape, the campus is equipped with complete and advanced facilities and possesses first-class educational resources. Currently, it has 251 faculty members and more than 4,500 enrolled undergraduates and postgraduates. At present, it has cultivated more than 20,000 talents, and the average employment rate of graduates is higher than 97%, mainly distributed in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian and other large and medium cities in China and the United States, Britain, Japan, Singapore and other countries.

The campus now houses School of Software, International School of Information Science & Engineering, School of Microelectronics, Foreign Language Education Center and Software Engineering Research Institute. Among them, School of Software is one of the first national demonstration software colleges jointly approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Planning and Economy Commission. The DUR-RU School of International Information and Software is the first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution of DUT, and also the first non-legal person cooperative educational institution between China and Japan at high-level academic and degree education. The College of Microelectronics is one of the 17 demonstration microelectronics colleges supported by the state and the only one in northeast China. With school-enterprise cooperation as the characteristics of talent training mode, the campus actively seeks government support and enhances participation of enterprises. It is striving to build a long-term education mechanism of government-university-enterprise interaction. The campus has two doctoral programs in first-level disciplines (software engineering and electronic science and technology), and postdoctoral research stations (integrated circuit design and integrated system and electronic science and technology). It has established Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Ubiquitous Network and Service Software, National IC Talent Training Base, Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of IC Technology and Liaoning Provincial IC Design Service Public platform. It has world-class talent training facilities, including the world's most advanced 8-inch integrated circuit process equipment and 2,000 square meters of high-grade ultra-clean laboratory.

Laying stress on joint cultivation of international high-end talents, the campus of the Development Zone has carried out extensive cooperation and exchanges with Loughborough University, Edinburgh University, University of California Irvine, Pennsylvania State University, Sydney University, French School of computer and new technology, Ritsumeikan University, Waseda University, Yokohama National University, Tokushima University and Malaya University in Malaysia.

Adhering to the goal of building DUT into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, the campus is striving unremittingly to foster international engineering elites and develop itself into a first-class international talents training base, a high-end interdisciplinary and applied technology research base, and a high-end scientific and technological achievements incubators and transformation base.
